OVERVIEW
In today's entertainment market, an entirely unique demand is emerging within the medium of comedy: a demand to excel at both writing and performing. Leading filmmakers and writers include such popular voices as Judd Apatow, Adam McKay, and Kevin Smith, to name a few, who lead the charge with their own 'brands' of comedy. In this ever-burgeoning field, having an acting reel as well as a sketch writing portfolio has become the new normal for anyone with an instinct for comedy. The New York Film Academy will offer the only program of its kind in the United States that blends intensive acting/improv study with an intensive writing program. Students will graduate with a Certificate of Study, as well as a Sketchwriting Submission Packet and a Sketch Demo Reel. It will be a one of a kind program designed to create the Comedic Actors and Writers of tomorrow!12 WEEKS, 108 HOURS

NEW COMEDY CLASS DESCRIPTIONS, EVENING PROGRAM
Sketch for Film: In this unique class, students will learn how to shape their writing to meet the demands of contemporary Filmmaking. They will be able to learn, in tandem, how to hone their skills for Sketch Writing, as well as view their product through a directors' eye. Because students will be constantly putting their Sketches on Film, the class will allow for adjustment when it comes to their own scripts, and how to blend comedic instinct as a writer with the lens of a camera. An exciting class that marks the New York Film Academy's Evening Comedy Program as one of a kind!
Sketch Writing: In this beginning sketch class, students will learn the fundamentals of Sketch Writing. Structure and rhythm will be emphasized when it comes to building sketches. Students will analyze classic sketches from Saturday Night Live, studying formula. The class will have an assignment every week.
Improvisation: Through games and exercises, students learn how to let their imaginations run wild, how to play well with others, and how to live "in the moment," free from anticipating or planning what to do next. Many working writers and performers began in Improvisation class, learning how to free their instincts and rely on emotional and creative logic, serving ultimate truth in comedy and character.
