In every category, we have had students return to the Academy for one of our longer, more involved programs. Many of our one-week students get "bitten by the film bug" during the program, and realize that one week will not fulfill their desire to learn all they can about the process of movie making.
All students enrolling in the One-Week Movie Summer Camp should be aware that this is an introductory course. The limitations of a one-week course should be apparent, given that many people spend years studying film and perfecting their craft. Nonetheless, some students in the One-Week Movie Summer Camp have made excellent projects worthy of being screened at festivals nation-wide and abroad television, VCR, DVD player and video camera for demonstration and screening of clips.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
This 1-week course gives students an understanding of the requirements and rigors of filmmaking, as well as the exhilaration of completing their own short film project.
Students will write, produce, direct, and digitally edit their own films on digital video and will rotate among crew positions when their classmates shoot.
The program begins with two days of intensive study in camera, writing and directing. On Day Three students begin shooting their individual projects. Day Five and Six are comprised of more classes, post-production and the final screening.
PROJECT: FILM STORYTELLING
Students are introduced to the art of visual storytelling. They develop a dramatic moment, and then design between one and five shots that allow the audience to follow a character and his objective in a film that may be up to 3 minutes in length.
