Film & Acting Camps in
New York Film Academy is happy to bring our high school workshops back to London in the summer of 2010. London enters the 21st century with a reputation as the place to be. With an incredibly active theater and cinema culture, it is the ideal home for the New York Film Academy programs in England. In the midst of an exciting modern revival, London invites the developing artist to join in its bustling energy. With such new attractions as the Tate Modern, filled with the avant garde sculptures of Louise Bourgeois or the sleek new financial center of the revitalized Docklands with its ultra-modern railway system, London stands out as a city on the creative edge. The more traditional sites remain as well, of course: Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Regent’s Park, and the British Museum, to name but a few.
BLOOMSBURYThe New York Film Academy facility in London is located in Bloomsbury, an area historically associated with education and the arts. In the heart of Bloomsbury, only steps away from the Film Academy, is the British Museum - a must-see for visitors to the area. Also in Bloomsbury are University College London and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Some of the most beautiful and well-manicured parks in London including Russel Square, Bedford Square and Bloomsbury Square give Bloomsbury its unique character.
SupervisionStudents may reside at Northumberland House which provides double furnished rooms - two students sharing a bedroom.
The Film Academy makes every attempt to keep all of our students on the same floors. Counselors live in the facility with our students and enforce a strict curfew.
Other than breakfast, students must purchase all meals at restaurants or markets in the surrounding environs of the housing and school facilities, as no meal plan is available at the housing facility. Therefore, students have the ability to roam freely to patronize establishments in these areas. Students must inform their counselor of their destinations and they must adhere to our Buddy System — no student is allowed to roam alone. Although students may explore the area, they must stay within a certain radius of the housing and school facility. That radius is clearly outlined at the onset of the program. It is requested that all students have personal cell phones with them during the program.
Students are escorted to and from Northumberland House to the NYFA classroom facilities for class and/or shooting. Students shoot on location in London in crews of 3-4 supervised by Teaching Assistants. Saturday activities are mandatory for housed students and include daylong trips to attraction in and around London, including tourist attractions, outdoor screenings, museums, and amusement parks. The counselors who live at Northumberland House plan and supervise these outings.
In case of medical emergency, students will be taken to the nearest hospital.
