New York Film Academy Financial Aid Office Code of Professional Ethics

The staff members of the Financial Aid Office at New York Film Academy (NYFA) uphold standards of professional conduct in all aspects of their positions, specifically including all dealings with any entities involved in any manner in student financial aid, regardless of whether such entities are involved in a government sponsored, subsidized, or regulated activity.

Financial aid staff at NYFA will refrain from taking any action for his or her personal benefit including:

  • Refrain from taking any action they believe is contrary to law, regulation, or the best interests of the applicant s and parents they serve
  • Ensure that the information they provide is accurate, unbiased, and does not reflect any preference arising from actual or potential personal gain.
  • Remain objective in making decisions and advising applicants and students at NYFA regarding relationships with any entity involved in any aspect of student financial resources.
  • Refrain from soliciting or accepting anything of other than nominal value from any entity a governmental entity (such as the U.S. Department of Education) involved in the making, holding, consolidating or processing of any student loans, including anything of value (including reimbursement of expenses) for serving on an advisory body or as part of a training activity of or sponsored by any such entity.
  • Disclose to NYFA in such manner as NYFA may prescribe, any involvement with or interest in any entity involved in any aspect of student financial resources.

Inspired by excellence, the Financial Aid Office establish trusted relationships with applicants requiring assurances that all shared information be treated with the highest level of integrity. This highly valued level of trust is accomplished through the following efforts.

  • Providing financial assistance and educational funding guidance to applicants seeking to attend a program at New York Film Academy (NYFA)
  • Coaching applicants, students and their families through all aspects of financial funding for educational programs increasing their awareness of their rights and responsibilities.
  • Listening to all applicants, responding professionally to their specific situations providing equal access to all sources of funding that remove financial barriers.
  • Teaching and developing applicant s’ understanding of the cost of education and the funding sources designed to offset these costs.
  • Commit to removing financial barriers for those who wish to pursue postsecondary learning.
  • Assist applicants and students with all resources to meet their financial need.
  • Be aware of the issues affecting applicants and students and advocate their interests at the institutional, state, and federal levels.
  • Respect the dignity and protect the privacy of applicants and students, ensuring the confidentiality of applicant and student records and personal circumstances.
  • Ensure equity by applying all need analysis formulas consistently across the full population of NYFA applicants and students.
  • Provide services that do not discriminate based on race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, or economic status.
  • Recognize the need for professional development and continuing education opportunities.
  • Promote the free expression of ideas and opinions, and foster respect for diverse viewpoints within the profession.
  • Commit to the highest level of ethical behavior and refrain from conflict of interest or the perception thereof.
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism, reflecting a commitment to the goals of NYFA.
