The Dubai weekend workshop is an excellent opportunity to explore the possibilities of filmmaking, and for students to discover whether this craft is the appropriate choice for them. Students will:
Experience working collaboratively in a high‐pressure, creative environment.
Develop an introductory level understanding of the cinematic language.
Gain knowledge of digital cameras.
Acquire the skill set of designing a scene, via shot selection, and devise an appropriate strategy for execution of a short film production.
Dissect a film through analyzing the choices made by the director and evaluating whether or not those decisions were justified within the context of the story.
Please note that, while very informative, the weekend filmmaking workshop is an introductory course. Many people spend years studying film and perfecting their craft, and students should understand the time limitations and constraints involved in this short hands-on intensive. Many students who participate in our short-term workshops have decided to pursue movie making in the future.
