Moises Saman

Bio

PHOTOGRAPHER | PHOTOJOURNALIST | DIRECTOR

Moises Saman is an award-winning photojournalist from Lima. In 2000, after interning at a bunch of small and medium sized newspapers, Saman joined Newsday for seven years as a staff photographer. During his tenure at Newsday, he focused on covering the fallout of the 9/11 attacks, spending most of his time traveling between Afghanistan, Iraq, and other Middle Eastern countries. He then went on to be a freelance photographer at The New York Times, and also became a regular contributor for Human Rights Watch, Newsweek, and TIME Magazine.

Saman is a member of Magnum Photos and a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in Photography for his work on the Arab Spring. He has also received awards from the World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year and the Overseas Press Club, while his photographs have been shown in several exhibitions worldwide.
