In partnership with the New York Film Academy, the National Youth Leadership Forum’s (NYLF) Digital Media, Film & Journalism is a fantastic and hands-on introduction into the world of digital media. The seven-day experience is an ideal entryway for teens passionate about potentially pursuing work in the digital media industry.
Over the course of seven intensive and rewarding days, students attend NYFA’s New York City campus. exploring the city’s many sight and sounds while also studying at the Academy.
Students participating in the NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism Camp find themselves in an inspirational environment and obtain the skills and know-how required to succeed in a multimedia, digital world. During the camp, participants will join their fellow campers in a series of workshops and faculty-supervised simulations in which they gain experience with digital production, journalism, digital editing, and audio and video broadcasts.
Over three days, students work on-site at the New York Film Academy with specialists in the fields of broadcast journalism, filmmaking, and cinematography in one of the following workshops:
Filmmaking Workshop: Practice directing, writing, and shooting, while learning the significance of shot sizes and camera placement.
Cinematography Workshop: Learn scene analysis and comparison, film, and camera essentials, and the importance of the pre-production meeting.
Broadcast Journalism Workshop: Shoot a short film or broadcast news segment with HD video cameras, be responsible for the scripting, and screen your segment.
Students who complete the NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism Camp leave the camp with a greater degree of confidence about their potential college and career choices.
