Summer camps for 2021 are currently being planned for both in-person and online options. However, due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, NYFA will be unable to offer housing for in-person teen camps. Families will need to secure their own housing for campers and provide any necessary off-campus supervision, if traveling to a NYFA teen summer camp from another city, state or country. All after-school and weekend camps will be conducted online, until further notice. To view all camps and workshops offered, please click here.

Online Acting for Kids

Our Online Acting Camps are designed to help kids develop the core skills needed to compete and creatively thrive in the contemporary world of acting. This experience consists of 6 hour modules (three modules offered in this discipline) which can be completed either after school or on Saturdays. If kids are taking the module after school, each module runs for one week. Saturday programs, each module run for four consecutive Saturdays. Students may enroll in all three modules or select and complete individual modules (students are not required to complete one module to attend the next).

Schedule Options

For each module, there are two schedule options:

Option 1:
• One week for each module
• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. EST

Option 2:
• Four consecutive Saturdays for each module
Saturday at 12:00 pm- 1:30 p.m. EST

Tuition: $300 USD for each module

Module One: Monologues
In the first module, students will learn how to bring a monologue to life. They will be instructed and will practice how to truthfully act under imaginary circumstances with thoughtful, playful, and surprising choices that will keep an audience engaged.

Module Two: Fundamentals of TV & Film Auditions
In the second module, students will focus on the fundamentals of crafting material for on camera TV and Film auditions, so that they can create unique, compelling auditions that showcase their strengths as an actor. They will also learn what to expect and how to successfully perform in a professional audition setting.

Module Three: Exploring Forms of New Media
In module three, student actors will explore forms of self generated content including: web series, online videos, and sketches – information that has increasingly become more and more valuable to actors over the last decade. Students will explore writing and shooting their own work with materials that are available to them at little to no cost. The class will culminate in a sharing of self-written and produced short form videos.
