Summer camps for 2021 are currently being planned for both in-person and online options. However, due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, NYFA will be unable to offer housing for in-person teen camps. Families will need to secure their own housing for campers and provide any necessary off-campus supervision, if traveling to a NYFA teen summer camp from another city, state or country. All after-school and weekend camps will be conducted online, until further notice. To view all camps and workshops offered, please click here.

The New York Film Academy’s 1-Week Online Acting for Film II Camp for Kids has been designed by our faculty of professional actors to help guide returning students in the next step toward auditioning and submitting themselves for work. In addition to more in class practice on camera, this week is spent gathering and improving personal portfolio materials for submissions. This online acting level II program is a great stepping stone for those interested in moving forward with their education and future in Acting.  Students will learn how to receive, prepare and submit for auditions as well as apply what they already know from Acting for Film fundamentals through self taping, audition exercises and making their own materials at home. Actors will leave ready for the two week level II class, and have a strong foundation to begin submitting for industry standard projects from home.

Class Descriptions

Headshots/Resumes – Reviewing and creating your own headshots and resumes from home.

Acting for Film II – Students will explore play and storytelling through more advanced exercises and audition practice.

Making a reel – Using pieces from current and previous programs, students will learn the basics of how to make your own reel.

Characters – Through gesture and voice work, students will deepen their approach to the art of creating specific characters.

Improv II – Students learn not only the comedic uses of improv but also how to be present in the moment in dramatic scenes as well.

The 2-Week Online Acting for Film II Camp for Kids  will use all of the materials and practice from the first week (see level II week one description) to experience the step by step process of submitting, auditioning and booking a role. In collaboration with our level II Filmmaking class, the Acting students will go through a casting call from beginning to end. From reading breakdowns and character descriptions to how to seek out acting opportunities, we dive into the ‘business of’ in this second week. This program is designed to help demystify the industry, introduce professional collaboration and instill confidence in submitting and presenting themselves on a professional level. The second week of this camp will culminate in a live table reading of these collaborative final projects.
