This Actor and Filmmaker hybrid camp is designed specifically for students who have completed the online modules for Acting or Film Directing and/or two week online summer camp in Acting or Film Directing with NYFA. This studio style class gives students a more in depth opportunity to collaborate with peers in making original content that allows space for everyone to write, act and direct.
The Online Acting & Film Advanced Studio for Kids camps consist of 6 hour modules (three modules offered in this discipline) which can be completed either after school or on Saturdays. If teens are taking the module after school, each module runs for one week. Saturday programs, each module run for four consecutive Saturdays. Students may enroll in all three modules or select and complete individual modules (students are not required to complete one module to attend the next).
For each module, there are two schedule options:
• One week for each module
• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. EST or PST
• Four consecutive Saturdays for each module
• Saturday at 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m EST or PST
Tuition: $300 USD for each module
Module One: Action!
For those who have already taken a New York Film Academy online Acting or Filmmaking course, this module will be an excellent next step in workshopping writing, directing and acting in a short action based film. Students will all create their own film idea and write a short action based script. Their script will be passed to a fellow classmate to shoot and direct their film!
Module Two: The Writers Room
In a professional writers room style workshop, this module will focus on scene work from the writing, acting and directing point of view. Students will have the opportunity to write a short two person scene as well as direct actors in theirs in a table read style workshop. Everyone will have the chance to act as well in one of their classmate’s scenes.
(Come to class one with three script ideas to pitch)
Module Three: Book the Room
Module gives students the opportunity to pitch their own project, hold auditions and create a proof of concept! Students will learn to pitch their short film idea, script and character breakdowns for the actors to audition for. In the audition process, actors will get the experience of cold readings as well as self tapes with new original work and feedback from the writer themself!
