PRE-COLLEGE ENRICHMENT THROUGH FILM AND ACTING
In June 2015, the New York Film Academy returns for its fifteenth consecutive summer to Disney Studios, Walt Disney World® Resort, Florida. As in all our summer camps each student writes, directs, shoots and edits his or her own short films.
SHOOT AT DISNEY STUDIOS, AND EPCOT®
Students in the New York Film Academy program at Disney Studios have the extraordinary experience of shooting on professional movie sets and realistic international environments. They shoot on the Disney Studios lot with its fully dressed sets, like San Francisco and the New York Street set.
Though they are shooting their films in Florida, students find that they may set their films on a street in Paris complete with the Eiffel Tower and French cafés, and Morocco. These are among the four amazing international locations available for students’ productions at Epcot®.
In preparation for daily shoots, classes occur at Celebration Hotel.
Shoots take place nearly every day in the early morning at Disney Studios and at EPCOT. All shoots are done in the presence of a teaching assistant.
Students reside at Celebration Hotel and attend classes at the hotel’s board rooms across the street from the hotel. Students may use the hotel’s various recreation facilities. Counselors and staff live in the hotel with the students.
Weekends are set aside for the students to enjoy the Disney Parks. The students are driven to a pre-determined park by the New York Film Academy staff and given a time and location at which to meet back for transportation back to the hotel. Students must adhere to the “Buddy System” at all times in the park. No student is allowed to roam the parks alone.
For medical attention staff will escort students to Celebration Hospital. We require all students submit their medical insurance information prior to the start of the workshop.
The Academy has made arrangements for students to stay at Celebration Hotel which is a luxury, full service hotel. Students are not required to reside at the hotel in order to attend the camp. Families of commuting students must make daily transportation arrangements and/or provide a letter granting permission for the student to travel to and from campus unaccompanied by an adult.
The primary concern of our staff is the safety and well being of our students. All New York Film Academy High School Summer Camps are fully supervised programs. High school students are overseen by energetic, responsible, co-ed teaching and counseling staff. Counselors reside at the resort with non-commuting students.
Please note: Parents who wish to allow their children to leave the camp site without supervision, must submit a written authorization to the New York Film Academy.
For those arriving by plane, NYFA staff will meet students at their luggage check, if requested, and will transport students between the airport and the program campus.
Although the schedule of our film camps is demanding, time is set aside for students to take advantage of the incredible array of amusement opportunities unique to Central Florida. As part of the program each student receives a PARK HOPPER Pass which includes admission into the Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park and the Disney Studios.
