In October 2022, we welcomed Television Director Daniella Eisman as part of The 20/20 Series, created by NYFA’s Creative Director of Filmmaking and Cinematography, Liz Hinlein.
Daniella Eisman grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and used her storytelling skill as a means of expression during a politically rife climate. She was a record-breaking swimmer and competitive dancer. She began her US career as an actor and performer. After joining SAG in 1999, she realized her passion lay in storytelling behind the camera.
During the pandemic, Daniella directed Shameless, was the Producing Director on Season 3 of First Wives Club in Atlanta and Season 2 of Sex Lives of College Girls. She directed multiple episodes of Pivoting, Saved By the Bell, the final season of Brooklyn 99, The Mindy Project, Superstore, Loosely Exactly Nicole, and ABC’s Splitting Up Together.
Daniella has extensive on-set experience as a 1st Assistant Director, leading cast and crew with her commanding presence and focused approach. She was Assistant Director for Grey’s Anatomy (where the team was nominated for a DGA award), American Horror Story, Medium, Mistresses, Gilmore Girls, Getting On, HawthoRNe, and CSI, among others.
Daniella worked with top-notch directors to transform her skills & shape who she is as a director today. These invaluable experiences have helped find her own original directing voice, allowing her to thoughtfully craft and mold her episodes.
The 20/20 Series is a pop-up event that takes us into the homes, hubs, and workspaces of an array of dynamic creative visionaries to allow for relaxed, engaging conversations on craft, creation, and artistic vision. Each conversation with a creative visionary features 20 minutes of discussion with a moderator and a 20-minute Q&A from YOU, the audience.
