Hands-on Virtual Reality Filmmaking at NYFA

Over the course of two months, students study the current technological landscape and use industry tools provided by NYFA., building the skills they’ll need to create their own original, cinematic VR experience. No prior experience is required to enroll.
Program DescriptionProgram Name: 8-Week VR Cinematic Filmmaking Workshop
The VR workshop is designed to teach students the fundamentals of VR filming and how to tell stories in 360 degrees. Students learn how to use blocking, lighting, and motion to tell a compelling cinematic story. To support the core VR curriculum, students gather industry insights from demos by VR tech innovators, as well as guest lectures by content producers across retail, documentary, music, games, filmmaking, and beyond.
Students also obtain hands-on experience, working with 360 camera rigs, lighting, spatialized sound, multiple post-production platforms provided by NYFA., and directing actors and voice-over talent. After the program, many graduates continue their studies in other NYFA programs in filmmaking or our 8-Week VR Game Design workshop.
