Antonio Campos is a Brazilian-American filmmaker, showrunner, writer, director, and executive producer whose recent work includes the 2025 Netflix limited series The Beast in Me, starring Matthew Rhys and Claire Danes. He served as Showrunner, Executive Producer, and Director on the series The Staircase for Netflix. He is also known for directing the Netflix psychological thriller The Devil All the Time starring Tom Holland and Bill Skarsgård. He created, co-wrote, directed, and served as showrunner of HBO Max’s critically recognized limited series The Staircase, directed the pilot and executive-produced the first season of the hit series The Sinner, helmed an episode of Marvel’s The Punisher and directed the acclaimed drama Christine.
Campos emerged early as a promising talent in arts and film programs before transitioning to professional filmmaking, eventually co-founding the independent production company Borderline Films. Through Borderline, he has supported and produced acclaimed features such as Martha Marcy May Marlene, James White, The Eyes of My Mother, and Katie Says Goodbye, extending his impact well beyond his own directing work.
