Acting for Kids

Build Audition, Television, and Film Acting Skills

NYFA’s Acting for Kids camps and workshops offer the perfect introduction to film and television acting. Taught by professional actors who continue to work on films, television shows, stage shows, and much more, students in the acting for film programs receive a real-world, practical education and training. Through hands-on projects and exercises taught in the acting camp and workshops, students bolster their acting skills and gain experience in public speaking, presentation, and creative collaboration.

Currently, NYFA offers in-person, on-campus summer camps and weekend workshops held during the academic year, as well as online programs. These programs are designed for students aged 10-13 with varying levels of experience acting.

Acting for Film Summer
Camps: Level I

NYFA’s engaging, fun summer camps introduce kids to the fundamentals of acting and provide actual on-camera experience.

These summer camps teach students specific audition and screen acting techniques, and during the programs, students perform their own monologues and scenes. No prior experience is required — only enthusiasm!

Acting for Film Summer
Camps: Level II

Students that graduate from our level one 1-Week, 2-Week or 12-Weekend Acting for Film programs may return for a level-two program.

The level-two camps build upon the skills learned in our level-one camps, helping aspiring performers refine their audition and on-camera abilities. We currently offer our level-two camps as full-time, on-campus programs held during the summer, with an additional weekend camp available during the academic year.

Online Acting for Film
Summer Camps

NYFA’s online Acting for Film Camps are designed by our faculty of professional actors to immerse students in the specific craft of acting for film. In these 1 and 2-Week level one and level two acting camps, kids are introduced to the principles of acting for film to establish a foundation as actors. These full-time, virtual camps are offered during the summer.

Weekend Workshops

In addition to our summer camps, NYFA also offers workshops during the academic year.

During the interactive workshops, kids study under the direction of our experienced faculty of professional actors and learn new skills in audition and performance. Students may also complete projects in new media, creating their own unique content. These camps are offered during the academic year, and are available as weekend programs.

Alumni Work

NYFA alumni often use the skills and confidence gained in NYFA’s acting camp and workshops to pursue creative pathways in acting, filmmaking, television, content creation, production, media, entertainment, and more.

Please note that the successes of any NYFA alumni are the result of their individual hard work, perseverance, talent and circumstances. The New York Film Academy cannot guarantee that any future graduate will achieve similar success or secure a position in the industry.
