Acting Summer Camps for Teens

BUILD AUDITION, TELEVISION, AND FILM ACTING SKILLS

Whether a student has theatre acting experience, performed in a few short films with friends, or simply has the dream of becoming an actor, NYFA’s acting summer camps and workshops provide the training required to establish fundamental skills in acting for film. In NYFA’s acting programs, teens aged 14-17 learn professional on-camera and audition techniques, working under the supervision of professional actors. Students who complete our level-one camps that provide an introduction to acting may return for our level-two camps that build upon these skills.

NYFA currently offers in-person, on-campus summer camps and weekend acting camps, as well as online programs.

Acting for Film Summer
Camps: Level I

During our level-one film acting camps for teens, instructors use a strategic balance of coursework, short film projects, and time spent on sets to offer an introduction to the art of acting.

In NYFA’s level-one acting for teens summer camps, students study acting in a fast-paced educational environment. By combining interactive classes with direct, hands-on acting in front of the camera, students can gain experience in acting, while building additional skills in presentation, articulation, public speaking, and creative collaboration. No experience is required to attend. A majority of our acting summer camps are full-time classes, and there are additional weekend and online workshops available during the academic year.

Camps: Level II

For those that complete our level-one programs, which cover the fundamentals of performance, we also offer a selection of level-two camps that build upon these skills and introduce new techniques.

In NYFA’s level-two acting camps for teens, students take on scene work and projects that help them continue to strengthen their abilities on camera. To attend a level-two program, students must have attended a prerequisite 3-Week, 6-Week, 12-Weekend level-one camp of the same discipline.

Online Acting for Film
Summer Camps

NYFA’s online Acting for Film Camps are designed by our faculty of professional actors to immerse students in the specific craft of acting for film.

In these 1 and 3-Week camps, teens are introduced to the principles of acting for film to establish a foundation as actors. These full-time, virtual camps are offered during the summer.

Weekend Workshops

For students who wish to pursue acting during the academic year, NYFA also offers in-person workshops and online classes.

In these hands-on programs, students craft compelling material for on-camera tv and filmmaking auditions. Students may also experiment with self-generated content including web series, online videos, and sketches. The online acting classes are currently available on the weekend.

Alumni Work

Many of our acting camp graduates have gone on to be cast in starring roles in film and television including Glee (2009), The Middle (2009), the feature film, This Must Be the Place (2011) with Sean Penn, as well as The Knick (2014), and more.

Please note that the successes of any NYFA alumni are the result of their individual hard work, perseverance, talent and circumstances. The New York Film Academy cannot guarantee that any future graduate will achieve similar success or secure a position in the industry.
