Who We Are

Visual Storytelling at NYFA

Visual storytelling, in all its historical and evolving forms, has the unique power of allowing us to experience the life of others through the imagination and perspective of the storyteller. At NYFA, we believe that the ability to tell a compelling story is a life-changing skill, and structure our programs around learning the essentials of narrative storytelling. Whether our students are shooting an independent film, writing their first screenplay, engaging an audience through a compelling performance on stage or on camera, or building a universe in a video game, they are taught the importance of creating an engaging story. Throughout their time here, students are encouraged to take ownership over their work and development as a visual storyteller, following our project-based, hands-on approach. It is our goal to train and educate future visual storytellers, enabling them to tell insightful, compassionate stories.
