NYFA Veteran Outreach Engages Service Members at All Military Branches Education Fair

June 23, 2025

From June 23 to June 27, 2025, the New York Film Academy Veteran Outreach team participated in an All-Military Branches Education Fair held at Naval Station Pearl Harbor Hickam in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The weeklong event brought together colleges, universities, and training organizations to provide information on educational opportunities available to active-duty service members, veterans, and military families from across all branches of the United States Armed Forces. NYFA representatives engaged with more than 40 service members interested in exploring careers in filmmaking, acting, producing, and other creative disciplines.

Many conversations focused on how military leadership experience, teamwork, and operational planning skills translate effectively into collaborative creative environments such as film production. Service members were also provided guidance on using Post-9/11 GI Bill® education benefits to pursue professional training in the film and media industries.

Attendees expressed strong interest in NYFA’s hands-on programs, particularly those offered at the Los Angeles campus, where students gain access to industry-standard equipment, experienced faculty, and collaborative production opportunities.

Participation in multi-service education fairs remains an important component of NYFA’s veteran outreach strategy, allowing the academy to connect directly with service members preparing to transition to civilian careers while exploring educational pathways in the creative arts.
