The New York Film Academy’s Rising Artist Scholarship was created to recognize outstanding high school students who dream of pursuing film, media, or performing arts in college — and we’re hitting the road to find them.
Led by Joey Zangardi, NYFA’s Director of Talent Acquisition, with experience in Casting at MTV, FOX, Nickelodeon, NBC, and as an Agent in NYC — our team scouts talent directly at schools across the country, similar to sports recruitment. Our goal: to award Rising Artist Scholarships to passionate students ready to take the next step toward their future in the arts.
This program is designed for educators, program directors, and school faculty who would like to nominate their students and their creative work for scholarship consideration.
- Every Student Considered – All students involved in your school’s film, media, acting, musical theatre, or performing arts projects are eligible — regardless of graduation year or role.
- Teacher Nominations Matter – We rely on educators to help identify which students are serious about continuing their craft at the college level.
- A NYFA Talent Scout Will Visit or Review Student Work – One of our representatives will visit your school to observe performances, screenings, exhibits, portfolio presentations, or other showcases and award scholarships based on the work presented. While we do our best to attend all nominations in person, we are also happy to consider video recordings or digital portfolios if scheduling or travel prevents us from being there.
- Types of Events We Scout – We’re interested in attending a wide range of creative events, including theatre productions, film festivals, screenings, photography showcases, portfolio days, and other student exhibitions. Have something else in mind? Let us know — we’re always open to considering additional opportunities to celebrate and support student work.
- $15,000–$20,000 per year for NYFA Conservatory and BFA Degree Programs
- 25% scholarships toward NYFA’s High School Summer Camps
