Learn to Make a Short Film at NYFA
In NYFA’s 12-Weekend Filmmaking for Teens Workshop, students aged 14-17 learn to make short films and video content. Designed for teens with limited filmmaking experience, the part-time film program is held on Saturdays and focuses on teaching essential skills in writing, directing, shooting, and editing.
Program Description
Camp Name: 12-Weekend Filmmaking Camp
During our filmmaking for teens workshop, students rapidly build skills in film and content creation through classroom instruction, hands-on production classes, and making their own short films. In three short months, students study directing, writing, cinematography, and production, using their knowledge to create original short films and video content using professional equipment and editing software. Students will also learn how to serve in various on-set roles such as Cinematographer and Director of Photography.
For all level 1 students, we recommend that students invest in a 500GB – 1TB hard drive to store their work. Students can keep a digital copy of their work and are invited to share their final films in a screening open to friends and family.
