Filmmaking and Acting for Film Camps
A century after the first experiments with motion pictures took place in Paris and almost 50 years since the French New Wave changed the way we look at movies, NYFA’s students continue the tradition of capturing this city and the stories it generates on film. Since 1998, NYFA has held filmmaking and acting for film summer camps in Paris, hosted at the National Film School of France, La Fémis.
As one of world’s most elite film institutes, La Fémis is located in the historic neighborhood of Montmartre. Our programs offer students aged 14-17 an introduction to the world of cinematic storytelling, as well as great neighborhoods, museums, and city sites.
Teen Programs
NYFA’s Paris program offers full-time summer camps for teens in filmmaking and acting for film. These programs are offered on a seasonal basis. Please contact an admissions representative for more details.

Facilities
La Fémis is located in the historic Pathé Studios in the 18th arrondissement (district). The school has spacious classrooms, meeting spaces, shooting space, state-of-the-art screening rooms, as well as a student lounge. Paris also has a number of sites and locations to film.
Faculty
NYFA’s experienced faculty include filmmakers and actors who are actively working in their chosen disciplines. As the summer camps aim to provide practical training, faculty provide mentorship and guidance to help students pursue their creative goals.
The teen student residence, La Residence Montmartre is a short walk from our school. It is a three-star hotel which offers comfortable apartments with cable, internet, maid service, and daily continental breakfast. Counselors live in the same residence as the students and are always reachable, and curfew times are strictly enforced. Please note that due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, NYFA may be unable to offer housing for in-person camps. For additional information, please contact a NYFA Youth Admissions representative at summerprograms@nyfa.edu.
Students who attend NYFA’s summer camps are supervised closely. Students are allowed to patronize local eateries and have limited freedom to explore the area, following the buddy system. “Buddies”, or two or more students, sign out together with one of the counselors, travel outside together, and sign back in as a group. Students with cell phones are asked to have their phones charged and on at all times.
Although the camp’s daily schedule is demanding, students have time to explore the sights, great boulevards, and charming neighborhoods of Paris in organized evening and weekend activities. For the film lover, Paris has more cinemas than any city in the world, and screenings of an incredibly wide range of work proliferate throughout the city. Montmartre, which has always been the neighborhood of choice for young artists and actors, is within walking distance of Sacre Coeur, the glorious cathedral with a hilltop view of all Paris.
Continental breakfast is served at the Montmartre residence, and all other meals must be provided at the student’s expense. Students should budget 40 euro per day for snacks, lunch, and dinner.
