Joseph Bornilla

Joseph Bornilla - MFA Photography Graduate

Joseph Bornilla was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and is currently based in Los Angeles, CA. He is a graduate of the MFA Photography program and is currently a student in the MFA Cinematography program. Joseph was recently named Emerging Photographer of the Year 2014 by the American Aperture Awards. His documentary project on Typhoon Haiyan survivors, Brown Bamboos - Waterproof, received an Honorable Mention at the 2014 Moscow International Foto Awards.
Allen J. Redwing

Allen J. Redwing - 1-Year Filmmaking Graduate

Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Allen J. Redwing is a writer, producer, and director. While in high school, Allen interned at the Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN and developed a passion for writing. Upon graduating high school in 1996, Allen joined the US Army as a Military Intelligence Analyst with the ambition to be a broadcast journalist, a career field unavailable at the time. Shortly thereafter, Allen J. Redwing was stationed in the Republic of South Korea where he spent countless hours on the weekends learning photography. After being published in the Seoul American Newspaper and having received numerous international awards for his work, Allen was selected by United States Forces - Korea | United Nations Command to serve as a combat documentation photographer where he traveled the country documenting dignities and special unit visits for his command. Upon returning to the United States, he served as Recruiter and Station Commander in the New England Recruiting Battalion. During his limited off-duty time, Allen focused his creative passions and pursued fashion, lifestyle, and celebrity photography and was published in several local and national magazines throughout the country. Having discovered a passion for writing and filmmaking at an early age, coupled with a visual sense for editorial photography, Allen decided to take forty-five days leave from his military duty in 2011 to attend a filmmaking workshop at New York Film Academy with the hopes of one day becoming a filmmaker. This intense and rewarding experience impacted his life tremendously and led to him to return in 2013 (upon retirement from the US Army) to purse the One-Year Filmmaking Conservatory Program where he has been recently selected by Variety Magazine as one of 110 Students to Watch globally for his tenacity, talent, and storytelling. Allen J. Redwing, maintains a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Endicott College in Beverly, MA, has two amazing children, and loves to make movies that move the soul.
Nick Jones Jr.

Nick Jones Jr. - BFA Filmmaking Graduate

Nick Jones Jr. served in the United States Marine Corps before leaving to pursue a career in the film industry. He started his career as an actor. Before long he was itching to create the worlds he helped bring to life on screen. He studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy where he learned to write and direct. He interned on the ABC comedy The Middle as a director, learning from the show's main director Lee Shallat-Chemel. He later became the mentee of feature film director Dito Montiel and recently worked with him on his latest film, Man Down, starring Shia Labeouf and Gary Oldman, as the film's military consultant.
Kevin Resnick

Kevin Resnick - MFA Filmmaking Graduate

Kevin Resnick is an award-winning writer, director, and actor who served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and flew airplanes as a C-130 Navigator. After moving on from the military, his innate flair for comedy allowed him to make a successful living as an actor in New York, where he starred in several acclaimed films on the national festival circuit, receiving Best Actor Nominations for his work on three different occasions. As a writer/director, his films have screened in festivals worldwide—including the famed Cannes Film Festival—and have won multiple awards, including Best Comedy Short, Best Short Film, Award of Merit, and an Audience Award, among others. His work has been distributed on digital platforms as well as on television.
Luis Camacho

Luis Camacho - 1-Year Acting for Film Graduate

Since graduating from NYFA, Luis has performed in three short films and one web series. He was also assistant director for the world premiere of the play Comfort, directed and written by Jung Han Kim, at Lincoln Center.

He produced the plays The Untitled Ginsburg Project, directed by Joshua Kelley (with permission from his estate), and Fresh Meat, which was recently chosen for the Manhattan Theater Festival.

In film, he is the producer of Sinaptica, which was recently chosen for the Cannes Short Film Corner. The film has already won 7 awards and has been selected for 29 festivals. Additionally, he is the producer for the features Red White and Detroit and Good Friday.
Luc-Richard Elie

Luc-Richard Elie - 1-Year Photography Graduate

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Luc-Richard Elie moved to Los Angeles in 1998 where he became a stand-out Track and Field athlete at West LA College, while also serving as an Army Reservist. Just prior to transferring schools on an athletic scholarship, Luc-Richard was activated and deployed by his unit in 2002 and served in Kuwait for OEF/OIF.

Upon his return, Luc-Richard worked several jobs in the Entertainment Industry from an On-Air Jock to record label promotion and event marketing. Looking for change of pace, Luc-Richard enrolled in the New York Film Academy in January 2013 to pursue Photography.

Immediately after graduating NYFA, Luc-Richard Elie began assisting full time for several Commercial Advertising and Editorial photographers while also interning at Sync Photo Rental. Six months later he opened his own Film and Photo Rental Studio called Concrete Studios LA in the Downtown Arts District. That same year, he was invited by the ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) to be a guest speaker at their annual Photo Assistant Workshop. When not running his studio or photo assisting, Luc-Richard can be found shooting portraits and lifestyle photography for his clients. His work has been published internationally with Ten Magazine in Barcelona, as well The New York Times, Angeleno Magazine, and several covers for BackStage Magazine featuring various celebrities.
Victor George

Victor George - MFA Acting for Film Graduate

Since graduation, Victor has been cast in many projects. These include a movie shot in India; the movie Borderland along with Bruce Dern and Peter Fonda, directed by Paul Street; The Second Coming of Christ; as well as various stage work in Hollywood. He also wrote and was featured in the short film, Lies Hidden in Truth.
Tony Williams

Tony Williams - MFA Acting for Film Graduate

Tony is currently working production on ABC's third season of Devious Maids. He is also preparing to take his short film The Rise of 2% Milk into film festivals. Tony has previously appeared on ABC's second season of Resurrection and the second season of Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots. More recently, Tony starred in a short film called Bristol Place (written and produced by NYFA Veteran Alumnus, Lashunda Smith), which was the finalist for the Black Women Film Summit at Spellman College. This short won the award for Audience Award.

Tony is the founder of a non-profit organization called Acting-OUT, where he utilizes acting as a tool to help kids "act out" of obstacles, environments, and situations they may face in life to help them become articulate leaders in their communities. He runs 12-week short film study programs and facilitates after school programs for several schools in the Atlanta area.

Furthermore, Tony is the Creative Director for Bamzy Baby Productions, a program that teaches children to read and encourages them to "wear their thinking caps" so that they may make better choices in life.
Wil Willis

Wil Willis - Attending BFA Screenwriting

Wil Willis is currently host of The History Channel's Forged in Fire.

It’s a competition reality show that pits master blacksmiths against one another in head-to-head competition to forge from scratch a weapon that could win them a $10,000.00 prize. Wil was previously the host of The American Heroes Channel's series Special Ops Mission and Triggers: Weapons that Changed the World. Wil joined the Army in 1993 and was assigned to A Co. 3d Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. He carried that post until 1998 when he cross-trained to the Air Force. Wil became an Air Force Pararescue Recovery Specialist. He served as a Pararescueman until August 2008. Wil is currently in the pilot BFA Screenwriting program at NYFA and also teaches Tactical Combat Casualty Care to deploying military units.
Paquita Hughes

Paquita Hughes - 1 Year Film & Photography Graduate

Paquita Hughes, a 10-year military veteran, works as a Producer/First Assistant Director in Los Angeles, CA. Her past projects include festival selections for dramatic shorts such as Taboo, recently screened at the 2015 San Diego Black Film Festival and also, Breaking The Silence, screened at the 2014 GI Film Festival in Washington D.C. With over 50 productions under her belt, she was selected to work with Imaginary Forces as an Associate Producer where she assisted on such productions as the 2014 MTV Movie Awards visual package, Electronic Arts' Battlefield: Hardline promo and Discovery ID’s Swamp Murders opening sequence. Her experience also includes assisting the Executive Producer in charge of Production on the upcoming theatrical feature film, Chocolate City, starring Robert Richard, Michael Jai White, Tyson Beckford, and Vivica A Fox. She was hired as first assistant director on the urban comedy feature film, Internship Games, which was released on DVD, Red Box, Wal Mart, and Family Video internationally and starring Tonya Banks of Lifetime’s Little Women of LA. Paquita graduated with honors from the Los Angeles Film School with a degree in Film/Television and also completed film and photography programs at the New York Film Academy in Burbank, CA. She was selected for several internships while attending school, including assisting and camera operating for Casting Director Robert Martin, Jr. and working in the production office during Season 3 of Comedy Bang! Bang! She has been featured on NPR, ABC News, and Rally Point Radio discussing her projects, career and military heritage. Paquita was also a guest on Kevin Smith’s podcast, Film School Fridays, and will soon be published in a photo book titled, Veteran Vision Project profiling veterans, their struggles, families, commitment, and service. Paquita was raised in Columbus, MS and born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.
Eric Thomas Brown

Eric Thomas Brown - AFA Acting for Film Graduate

Eric Thomas Brown was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He is a decorated Navy veteran with deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He also has certificates and discipline within the Gas Turbine Technician/Mechanical community. His core values consist of moving towards positivity in a more effective lifestyle. Throughout his military career, he has participated in many humanitarian aids in various countries across the world. He is a graduate of the New York Film Academy in Acting for Film and is a passionate veterans advocate. Eric has many creative works under his belt ranging from shorts films to plays, and has appeared on the TV show Burn Notice. He is actively working on original plays and a documentary about actors in Hollywood. Currently, he works as the Veteran Outreach Coordinator at the New York Film Academy, in addition to taking on the role as Athletic Director.
Paul J. Porter

Paul J. Porter - MFA Producing Graduate

Paul J. Porter was born in Iola, Kansas and served 13 years in the U.S. Marine Corps that included a deployment in the Pacific and two combat tours in Iraq during 2003-2004. He completed his BA in Film at the University of New Mexico in 2009 while still on active duty. Honorably discharged in 2011, Porter went on to complete his MFA in Producing for Film and Television at the New York Film Academy. While at NYFA, he wrote, produced, directed, and edited his first feature film, Rabid Love, which received worldwide distribution on all major VOD and digital outlets. He and his company have won multiple awards at various film festivals and competitions in many categories. Porter is married to actress Hayley Derryberry.

Porter is currently the Coordinating Producer at Madison McQueen, a commercial production company based in El Segundo, CA. He also freelances as an independent feature film producer as well as developing projects with his company, Rogue Taurus Productions LLC. Porter is a charter member of Veterans in Film and Television and is also currently serving in the California Air National Guard. Porter recently began the Rogue Filmmaker Blog where he posts weekly about various independent film topics.
Chris Ziegenhagel

Chris Ziegenhagel - BFA Filmmaking Graduate

After graduating from NYFA, Chris Ziegenhagel attended a veteran-hiring event hosted by VFT. At the event he picked up a three-month internship at a commercial production office (Imaginary Forces) where after his internship he was picked up as a freelance assistant editor. He has remained consistently booked since then.
Robert Thorpe

Robert Thorpe - BFA Filmmaking Graduate

Robert Thorpe is a writer and director who’s most known for his award-winning films Residue ("Excellence in Editing," Los Angeles International Film Festivals of Cinematic Arts 2013) and The Birthing Field ("Audience Choice Award for Best Director in a Drama," Los Angeles International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts 2014). Most recently, Robert's thesis film, The Birthing Field also won Best Thriller Short at the Motor City Nightmares Film Festival.

Robert joined the U.S. Navy in 1997 and after 14 years of service with tours in Afghanistan and the Guantánamo Bay Cuba Detention facility, he was honorably discharged. Having always wanted to be a filmmaker he enrolled in the New York Film Academy LA Campus to pursue his dream of being a writer, director and actor. He graduated with Honors in 2014 with his thesis film, The Birthing Field.
