|Making Movies and Making History: NYFA Over the Years July 25, 2014 Maybe it’s the gorgeous weather we’re having this summer in New York City or maybe it’s just that’s it’s a Friday, but today we found ourselves digging up an old New York Times article about the Academy from 2005. Written after the school had been open for thirteen years, the piece had us smiling not only because it reminded us of our humble beginnings, but also marveling at how many talented and incredible future filmmakers, actors, and other talented individuals have passed through the New York Film Academy over the past twenty-two years.|
Memorial Day Scholarship Winners Announced

In honor of the brave men and women who serve or have served in the military, the New York Film Academy set aside two scholarships to its 4-Week Acting for Film Workshop and 4-Week Filmmaking Workshop.
Military members and veterans interested in the scholarships were asked to submit a 90-second video detailing their military background and why he or she was passionate about pursuing acting or filmmaking at NYFA.
|NYFA LA Launches Weather Balloons to Detect Climate Change in SoCal June 12, 2014 Despite some of the obvious changes in climate, unanimously being documented by scientists across the globe, the issue of climate change has yet to become a truly global concern. As such, the Cannes Film Festival is beheld as one of the premier film festivals to be associated with. It’s with great pleasure NYFA finds a few of its own instructors represented in the prestigious international film festival. Since its very beginnings in 1946, the Cannes Film Festival has been a Launchpad for numerous filmmakers – from Federico Fellini to Quentin Tarantino.|
|NYFA Hosts Joint Talk with NASA Scientist May 9, 2014 The New York Film Academy will be holding a joint talk with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Warner Bros Studios on Tuesday, May 20th 2014 at 4:15pm PST. In an effort to raise awareness on the development of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the talk aims to showcase the programs, products, and overall results of the Academy's initiatives to merge STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) fields with the Visual Arts. Rajiv Uttamchandani will be representing the New York Film Academy while Dr. Matthew Greenhouse will speak on behalf of NASA.|
|NYFA Premieres Musical Spring Awakening May 2, 2014 As part of a continuing effort to encourage and showcase our amazing talent in New York Film Academy's Musical Theatre Program, last night was our first ever, staged theatrical production. To push the envelope, producers Kristy Cates and Mark Olsen wanted to do something brave and edgy. The Tony award-winning musical, Spring Awakening, felt like the perfect fit for a new generation of performers.|
|New York Film Academy’s 3D Animation Class Airs on RTVi April 25, 2014 Recently, the New York Film Academy in Battery Park welcomed Russian Television International (RTVi) to document a hands-on 3D Animation lecture taught by Animation Chair, Robert Appleton and Cinematography Chair, Sal Interlandi. The television piece was part of a half-hour program, which highlighted 3D animation, and aired on RTVi television March 15th, 2014. RTVi is an international Russian-language television network with studios based in Moscow, New York City, and Tel-Aviv.|

|NYFA to Open Brand New Campus in Sydney, Australia January 24, 2014 The New York Film Academy, an international, hands-on film, acting and photography school, will open the doors to a brand new campus in Sydney, Australia at the end of this month. The modern facility, currently undergoing final stages of completion on the corner of Pitt Street and Liverpool Street, is already taking enrollments for the government-accredited One-Year Acting and One-Year Filmmaking diploma courses, as well as short and evening courses.|
|NYFA Grad’s ‘The Square’ Nominated for an Oscar January 16, 2014 The Square, shot and co-produced by New York Film Academy graduate Muhammad Hamdy, has been nominated as one of five documentaries for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film, directed by Jehane Noujaim, originally premiered at The Sundance Film Festival where Hamdy ultimately accepted the Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary.|
