In February 2022, we welcomed Award-Winning Director of Photography Patrick Capone as part of The 20/20 Series, created by NYFA’s Creative Director of Filmmaking and Cinematography, Liz Hinlein.

Patrick Capone began his career as a first and second-unit cameraman on feature films. Throughout the years he made the transition to Camera Operator for such movies as The Mirror has Two Faces, Zoolander, The Producers, Analyze This, Analyze That, Kinsey, The Pink Panther, and Shine a Light.

He spent the last several years as Second Unit Director of Photography on such films as Ghostbusters, American Hustle, August: Osage County, Alpha House, After Earth, Wall Street 2, It’s Complicated, The Last Airbender, 30 Minutes or Less, Doubt, Away We Go, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Last Night, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The Happening, Untraceable, Made of Honor, My Sassy Girl, Tenderness, Hide and Seek, Lady in the Water, The Village, and Signs.

Patrick provided additional Photography on the films The Big Short, Jimmy Carter: Man from Plains, Analyze That, Revolutionary Road, The Brave One, Perfect Murder, and Miss Congeniality. Steaming television has also provided a platform for Patrick’s cinematography. Among them is Gary Trudeau’s Alpha House for Amazon, and Little Voices for Apple. HBO’s Succession landed Patrick a home to combine all aspects of his cinematography and storytelling. Patrick received an Emmy for “Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Special” on Disney+’s Hamilton. Winning several awards for Cinematography including “Best Film” at Slam Dunk Festival, Cine awards, and Kodak Emerging Cinematography Award for Born Loser.

The 20/20 Series is a pop-up event that takes us into the homes, hubs, and workspaces of an array of dynamic creative visionaries to allow for relaxed, engaging conversations on craft, creation, and artistic vision. Each conversation with a creative visionary features 20 minutes of discussion with a moderator and a 20-minute Q&A from YOU, the audience.
