Welcome to the New York Film Academy Hour. If this is your first time joining us we’d like to introduce you to Peter Rainer one of the most prolific and exquisite reviewers of cinema alive today. His work has appeared in the LA Times and New York magazine and he currently is film critic for The Christian Science Monitor and NPRs Film Week. His latest book is the essay collection Rainer on Film: Thirty Years of Film Writing in a Turbulent and Transformative Era.

Today, Mr. Rainer joins us, so that he may educate us on one of the greatest actors ever committed to celluloid. A titan of the stage, Marlon Brando was a revelation. Not just a beast of an actor, but an early and loud voice against racism and oppression within the Hollywood system.

Today Rainer will walk us through some of the greatest moments in Brando’s career including The Wild One, A Street Car Named Desire, On the Waterfront, Last Tango in Paris, and Reflections in a Golden Eye.
