Director Phillip Noyce spoke with students at New York Film Academy’s Los Angeles campus in November 2011, following a screening of “Dead Calm.” He shared that the first time the film was screened for Warner Bros. executives, it was in the same theater. He talked about making films in his youth, helping to create the underground film scene in Australia with George Miller and Peter Weir. He also discussed the differences in working on small and big-budget films, and working with Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie. Of working on film productions, Noyce said, “We’re just tent circus people. We put together a team of acrobats, put on a show, and move out We’re just common show people.”
