Mary Kay Place

Bio

ACTRESS | WRITER | DIRECTOR

Emmy-winning actress Mary Kay Place has appeared in countless films and television shows over the course of her career, including her award-winning role on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. She’s also appeared in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, Big Love, Lady Dynamite, and The West Wing. Her film credits include Being John Malkovich, The Big Chill, Private Benjamin, and Girl, Interrupted, among many others. Place is also a writer and director, achieving success at an early age when writing for Norman Lear and Mary Tyler Moore, as well multiple episodes of M*A*S*H.

In March 2006, New York Film Academy students saw an advanced screening of Lonesome Jim, directed by Steve Buscemi, followed by a Q&A with actress Mary Kay Place.
