Mickey FonsecaWRITER | DIRECTOR | PRODUCER

Mickey Fonseca is a writer, director, and producer and founder of production company Mahla Filmes.  Fonseca was born in Mozambique and grew up with a love of film and acting.

In 2011, Fonseca attended NYFA’s 8-Week Screenwriting program and has worked on films shot in Africa such as Diana and Blood Diamond.

Fonseca’s feature film that he wrote, produced and directed, Resgate, went on to win two Africa Movie Academy Awards for ‘Best Production Design’ and ‘Best Screenplay,’ and was nominated in four additional categories including ‘Best Director’ (Mickey Fonseca). Resgate was recently acquired by streaming giant Netflix.
