Learn How to Create a Video Game at NYFA

During NYFA’s 4-Week Online Game Design Camp, teens develop their own playable digital game demo with original 3D assets. This intensive virtual camp provides teens aged 14-17 the chance to immerse themselves in their passion for video and tabletop games, learning from active industry professionals. No previous experience is required to attend.

Program Description

Camp Name: Online 4-Week Game Design Camp for Teens

Throughout our online game camp, students study the fundamentals of game design, including:

Game Design: Game types, roles, platforms, player experience, prototyping, iterative design and user experience flowcharts.
Coding: Using Unity to write and implement code for a 3D, first – or third-person game.
Narrative Design: Concept and character development; dialogue writing & character voice; object-oriented storytelling; promotional copywriting.
Acting for Game Designers: Developing character voice & directing voice actors.
Art: 3D Maya Basics, modeling, texturing & using Mixamo for animation.
Industry: Target audience & branding your game to reach your target players.

To attend this camp, students need access to a PC or Mac that meets the following requirements and has the required software:

Maya program (free trial version) – https://www.autodesk.com/products/maya/free-trial

Please note that The Maya Free Trial version provides the software free for 30 days. The Maya Student version is for high school and college students. If students have access to a computer that meets the Unity System Requirements, they will be able to run Maya.
