Overview of Our Hands-on Video Game Design Degrees
All Game Design and Development programs emphasize hands-on skill development including creative leadership. Throughout the curriculum, students will collaborate with professional game programmers, developers, and instructors. Students can complete MFA, BFA, or AFA degrees at the New York Film Academy’s Los Angeles campus. In addition students can complete One Year conservatory programs at our NYC or LA campuses. Students may enroll in a one-year conservatory program and then apply their coursework toward credit in a degree program.
The BFA Game Design & Development degree program can be completed in either three years without taking summer breaks or four years with summer breaks. In addition to receiving hands-on education in the many different technical and aesthetic demands of game design, BFA students also take a full course load in Liberal Arts and Sciences to help them develop the critical thinking skills that will serve them well after they complete the program.
MFA GAME DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT DEGREE
The MFA Game Design & Development degree program is a two-year commitment spread over four semesters. It is for students seeking a graduate level education and experience in the craft.
AFA GAME DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT DEGREE
For undergraduate students who wish to focus their energies on solely learning game design, the Academy’s AFA program allows them to spend two years immersed in the study of game design and development. All video game design degree programs are offered at our Los Angeles campus.
