Acting for film is not simply knowing character and motivation--an actor must also know how to use the camera as a tool of expression. The practical knowledge of camera technique is often missed in traditional acting classes.
This course is an intensive, total immersion workshop focusing on the essential techniques of acting in front of the camera.
Topics covered include:
Actors' relaxation techniques for performance in close-up shots
Breathing for effective dialogue delivery
Movement and blocking in front of the camera
Hitting marks on the floor
Understanding how light affects mood
Shooting continuity in order to create seamless repeated takes from various camera angles
Facial projection exercises for the close-up and wide shots
Actors can expect a full weekend, all day Saturday and all day Sunday, from 10:00am until 5:00 pm each day with a short lunch break.
The course is taught by an experienced acting instructor and a cinematographer, both from New York City.
