Acting Classes in Florence, Italy and NYFA Australia
NYFA’s one-semester full-time acting for film classes in Florence, Italy, and Gold Coast, Australia, equip students with the preparatory building blocks of film acting. In addition to essential acting techniques and acting for the camera, students will also study voice, movement and the fundamentals of film production. Many students use this program as a study abroad opportunity to earn college credit.
Program DescriptionProgram Name: 1-Semester Acting for Film Program
In the one-semester program in Acting for Film, students build a strong foundation in acting, studying techniques rooted in the theater, but applied to screen acting. Students participate in a broad array of core acting classes that introduce them to finding the actor within, while simultaneously training their instrument to do the kind of technical, emotional, and physical work necessary for film acting. Students will gain confidence working in front of the camera and will also act in a live performance. The duration of the programs vary by campus. NYFA Australia’s semester-long program is concentrated into ten weeks and is called the 10-Week Acting for Film Workshop. In Florence, the program will run for twelve weeks.

At the end of the workshop, students can invite family and friends to an exclusive screening. Often, graduates of the 1-Semester Workshop enroll in NYFA’s 1-Year Filmmaking Program to continue their film studies. Please note that the NYFA Australia version of this semester-long program is condensed and and is called the 10-Week Filmmaking Workshop.

For students that meet the application requirements, our 1-Semester Acting for Film Program may be used as a study abroad opportunity. After successfully completing the program, students will have the option to receive a regionally accredited transcript, offering transferability of credits. *Students should confirm credit policies at their institution. Students that attend this hands-on workshop will complete an array of projects. Students will also audition in an open casting call with directors from NYFA’s Filmmaking program, then participate in a production workshop, where they will perform in on-set shoots.
