In addition to the Academy’s excellent curriculum and facilities, students also get the opportunity to study under our accomplished faculty. One of the principal reasons that NYFA is viewed as one of the best acting schools is that its faculty is composed of award-winning and accomplished working actors based in LA. Each faculty member possesses a unique skill set as an actor that allows her or him to provide insight into a particular area or specialty of acting. Some of our notable faculty include the following actors.
Lynda Goodfriend, Chair: Best known for her role as Lori Beth Cunningham on the classic television series Happy Days, Goodfriend has worked as both an actress and a director, helming the teleplay pilot Four Stars and the short film The Perfect Crime. Goodfriend’s other notable credits include the films Taxi Driver, Pretty Woman, and Beaches. Goodfriend is also an accomplished dancer and was a talent manager for many years.
Louis Gossett Jr.: With a career that spans nearly six decades, Gossett Jr. has won an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for his role in An Officer and a Gentleman and serves as a special lecturer in the Acting School’s master classes. He is also the winner of two Emmy Awards for his work in Roots and In His Father’s Shoes and an additional Golden Globe Award for his role in The Josephine Baker Story. He was also the star of the Iron Eagle series, and remains a highly sought-after actor.
Kenneth Lerner: An established and well-known actor with nearly four decades of experience as an actor of television, stage, and film, Lerner has been featured in over eighty television shows and forty-four movies in addition to his work coaching established actors. Lerner has appeared in such notable television shows and movies as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Running Man, CSI, and The Big Bang Theory.
